Abstract

The actual research reports provide different accounts about the relationships between attention, intelligence and achievement. And we have not so far a conclusive answer. The purpose of this study was to clarify this relationship and if it is possible, to take out some educational implications. 183 students aged 10 to 11 of the different educational centers of Castilla-La Mancha participated in this study. The results have confirmed the previous hypotheses, it is, that intelligence and attention are related each other and both with academic achievement, but the relationship between attention and achievement were only partially confirmed.

Resumen

Los datos más recientes de la investigación dan diferentes explicaciones sobre las relaciones entre atención, inteligencia y rendimiento. Y hasta el momento presente todavía no tenemos una respuesta definitiva. El objetivo de este estudio es contribuir a clarificar estas relaciones y, si es posible, extraer algunas implicaciones educativas. En el estudio participaron 183 alumnos de 10 a 11 años, de diferentes centros educativos de Castilla-La mancha. Los resultados confirman las hipótesis planteadas en el sentido de que la inteligencia y la atención están relacionadas y ambas con el rendimiento académico, si bien la relación atención-rendimiento académico se confirmó sólo parcialmente.
