Abstract

Los objetivos de este trabajo, han sido conocer las razones o motivos que más estimulan al alumnado hacia diferentes aspectos de los países de habla inglesa, como puedan ser los Estados Unidos o el Reino Unido, y si diversos factores, la edad o género entre otros, pueda incidir en ellos. Los participantes en el estudio han sido 1086 estudiantes de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, Bachillerato y Formación Profesional (586 varones y 500 mujeres. Las edades oscilan entre 12 y 20 años, con una media de edad de 14,82. Como instrumento de medida se ha utilizado una pequeña parte del parte del cuestionario MAALE (Motivación y actitudes en el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera, de Minera, 2010). Los resultados mostraron que se sienten más motivados hacia lo Norteamericano en las costumbres, tradiciones, música, cine, desarrollo económico e industrial y ciencia, y hacia el Reino Unido en arte y literatura. Conocer los intereses del alumnado facilitará al profesorado las líneas de actuación en su práctica docente.

Resumen

The objectives of this work have been to know the reasons that stimulate students in relation to different aspects of English speaking countries such as the United States or the United Kingdom, and if diverse factors like age or gender, among others, may impact them. The participants in the study were 1086 compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate and vocational training students (586 male and 500 female). The ages range from 12 to 20 with an average age of 14.82. A small part of the MAALE questionnaire (Motivation and Attitudes in Learning a Foreign Language, Minera, 2010) was used as a measuring tool. The results show more motivation towards North America for customs, traditions, music, cinema, economic and industrial development and science, and towards the United Kingdom in art and literature. Knowing the interests of the students will facilitate teaching staff with courses of action in their teaching practice.
